Services you can count on
- A conservatorship appoints a conservator to manage the financial affairs (estate) of a person who can no longer do so due to incapacity (e.g., dementia, brain injury, or severe illness).
- It is separate from guardianship, which covers personal decisions like medical care and living arrangements. Many cases involve both.
- Trust administration — Trustees manage assets held in a trust (which can avoid or simplify probate) according to the trust terms, for the benefit of beneficiaries.
- Estate administration (probate) — After death, an executor (named in a will) or court-appointed administrator gathers assets, pays debts and taxes, files accounts, and distributes property to beneficiaries. This person acts as a fiduciary.
- Professional fiduciary services — offer comprehensive support: acting as conservator, trustee or executor. They provide expertise, impartiality (especially in family conflicts), and compliance with court or legal requirements.
